Back in the saddle!

Hello everyone!

It has been a while since I made a post here, so here it is.

First of, for those who we're wondering, I had a bit of a health issue for the last 15 months or so, but now things are looking up, and I am ready to resume work, although at a slightly slower pace, at least for the coming months!

As for the video tutorial set, I plan on making it, I do apologize for the delays, if You can call 15 months a delay, I will start working on those as soon as I am comfortable with the new release of Anime Studio, I will keep You posted!

Today I spent some time getting re-acquainted with Anime Studio Pro, looking at the new stuff in the latest version, and I like it.

My favorite new things, well for me at least, are smart bones, which are deserving of a tutorial, and the layer selector (ALT/Right-Click), which is a huge time saver for me and was something I was asking for for ages, thank You so much to the developers.

One of the amazing thing I have to say about Anime Studio, is how easy it is to learn it and how well laid-out it is, look at me, I have not touched it in well over a year, and as soon as I opened it, here I was, working in it as if I had never stopped using it, great software!

Made a little scribble today, just for the heck of it, and I really enjoyed it...

  2. So sorry to hear of your health issues. Hope things are better.

I pre-paid for your tutorials, and am wondering if it will ship soon.
How can I make sure that I am still on your list?

    Thanks for your help.

  3. Hi Gilles
Well that is great news. Hearing you are well is the best news of the week. Please dont overdo. I have not been doing much Anime Studio myself last year as other urgent business made me stop, but I am eager to dust of the old work and start a new. Much love and many blessings.

  4. Hello Bev!

Yes, things are looking up, my head is also much clearer, which can't be a bad thing! :)

As for the video tutorial set, I still have all the Paypal inquiries, with all the buyers info's and emails, so You all of You will be notified as soon as they are available.

The plan is to make 2 sets, one for Debut and one for Pro 9.x, I will make the Debut one at first and then the Pro set, both will be available to those who pre-ordered, along with a few more goodies to try and make up for the delays.

I am also looking into file sharing providers to deliver them fast and securely and I hope to be able to deliver the Debut set in a matter of weeks, but I can't put a time stamp just yet, but I will do my best to deliver as soon as possible.

Hello Dust, thanks for the kind words, I came a long way for sure! :|

And How have You been my good Sir, been a while! :)

I hope we'll be discussing Anime Studio stuff once more, and much more!

  6. Hi Gilles. You wrote on the Forum: I looked into ways of making online comics with Anime Studio, and it worked surprisingly well, so I may have a go at it.
How do you manage that? I find Manga Studio and such programs work fast and easy, although Anime Studio has the enormous advantage of vector. I was just wondering how you would consider Anime Studio a possibility for online-comics, as the actual working out your characters takes a lot more time then in say Manga Studio? (at least in my rather amateuristic approach)
I am interested to hear your thoughts on this.

  7. Hello Dust, this is something I need to do, I owe it to those who trusted me with this project, but thanks for the kind words! :)

As for comics, well, think of it this way, with masking, You can easily make frames, You can easily make a library of text balloons, and You can easily pose 2d characters and tweak the heck out of them in a matter of minutes.

Its not a versatile as manga Studio, which has vector BTW, but its a really fast way to make decent comics, at least in my test.

  8. I get it. You just have a character ready and use it in all the different pics. Smart. The only requirement would then be to have that character virtually perfect, so that it can do almost anything you would need for your comic. Ha. That's where your tutorials come in as my characters are usually only good in one or two poses and then things get all messed up.
It's a great idea. By the way, i have not upgraded yet to Anime 9, but think if I want to go with the flow I will have to look into my wallet one of these days, as I have no idea yet how the smart bones work.
By the way, I remember how pleased you were when you reached the 10.000 mark on your blog. Look how far you've come already.
There seems to be a real need for your work.

  9. Actually, for a recurring character, You only need the 8 sides really, then You can tweak it your heart's content by moving points around.

Smart bones are basically actions driven by bones, pretty much the same as smartskin in Hash Animation Master, which is the 3D software that inspired Moho if I am not mistaken!

So far I like 9, but I need to spend more time with it.

Yeah, fun to see that my tutorials are helping peoples, my Youtube channel went over 40 000, which is also fun, with 187 subscribers!!
